At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at Sahlgrenska Academy, extensive research and teaching are conducted across large knowledge areas - from molecule to human. The operations consist of five sections: pharmacology, physiology, health and rehabilitation, clinical neuroscience, and psychiatry and neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology is now seeking an economist to be placed in the Section of Physiology and the Section of Pharmacology.

Job Responsibilities

As an economist in the Section of Physiology and the Section of Pharmacology, you will provide qualified operational and management support in financial matters concerning the sections. You will have overall responsibility for the accounting of the sections' state grants and external funds. Together with the section heads, you will be responsible for budget and year-end work. The position also entails financial administrative responsibility for several research groups.

Your tasks will include, among other things:

• responsibility for year-end, budget, analysis, and follow-up of the sections' and your research groups' finances.
• monitoring and reporting your research groups' external funds, such as grants from the Swedish Research Council, FORTE, Vinnova, and the EU.
• establishing and following up various types of agreements, such as direct procurement agreements and cooperation agreements with the Västra Götaland Region, primarily Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
• performing certain simpler administrative tasks as needed.

The tasks may change over time.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with relevant university-level education in economics or equivalent qualifications deemed comparable by the employer. Experience in similar work, preferably within a university or higher education institution, is an advantage.

As a person, you are service-oriented and unpretentious, thriving in a dynamic environment with varied work. You have a desire to continuously develop in your professional role and a genuine interest in economics. You plan and prioritize your work based on established timelines and work in a structured manner.

You have good computer skills and proficiency in Excel and Word. Experience with the financial system Unit4 ERP/Agresso Web and the budget and follow-up tool Hypergene is an advantage. You are engaged, competent, and flexible, motivated by the opportunity to support teachers and researchers in fulfilling the university's mission.

Since the work involves many contacts, both internally and externally, you find it easy to collaborate, communicate financial information to non-economists, and express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Employment

The position is a permanent employment, 100% full-time, with placement at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Start date: as soon as possible or by agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
